A Very Fancy Chair

Ever since I saw a version of this at Anthropologie, I knew I had to make one. (a patchwork of past paintings) I had already stripped canvases from the stretcher bars of paintings that were never finished and had rolled away for some other purpose so I had only to find a chair.  And lo and behold my local  Saturday morning thrift shop had exactly what I needed.  I love it when projects come together like that. This was a big hit at the art exhibition this past weekend and "yes" I would sit on it!

Hi Joanna, I LOVE your idea of mounting canvasses to a chair! Would you mind sharing what you used to adhere them? Do you have any protective finish on it? I have a stack of old paintings I'd love to do something like this with! Thanks so much! Cheryl Peddie

Hi Cheryl
Thank you! I thought it would be harder to do than it was. I used Golden Heavy Gel. It grabs right away and yet still lets you reposition if necessary. I made a paper template first and then positioned it on the canvas.
But I have to say, it wasn't my idea. It was another great idea from Anthropologie.

Thanks Joanna! Well, no matter if it was your idea or not... ideas are only ideas until they're put to use! :) And your results are just lovely! Thanks for sharing... I'm definitely going to try this out!

Can't wait to see more!
