Hudson Artists Association Spring Exhibition Weekend

These are three of the six entries for this year's exhibition, and I'm pleased to say that the middle entry (cups with spoon) won Best in Show!

This is a 10" square oil painting I finished for our local Spring Art Show.   It was one of several teacup paintings I painted and is now on its' way to a gallery to find a new home.

I am pleased to say that one of my entries into this year's Sprint exhibition won Best in Show!

I have been enjoying painting reflective surfaces lately so my collection of metallic tea cups became

the centre of interest.  Painted in oils on a collaged background, I am most happy with the results.

I've used acrylics a great deal in the past and now and then revisiting them.  I used them more for

decorative painting but now and then I come back to trying them out as a fine art medium.  I don't

paint the same way as I would with oils but this time I thought I'd make a concentrated effort to use them this way.  I have a friend who runs a tea room and florist shop so it's always so tempting to

re-arrange her wall of teacups (little works of art on their own) and take pictures.

This will be part of a series.  How many are considered a series?  Hopefully more than three.  Oils

are a pretty strong call for me but acrylics and watercolors give me joy too.
